Yes, technically this is a routine for the evening prior. However, preparing the night before can drastically improve your morning routine.

Eliminating any decisions you have to make early in the morning helps your day flow smoothly.

Plan and prepare decisions that you know you’ll have to make the next morning. Lay out your gym clothes if you’re planning to go to the gym bright and early. Or lay out your work clothes, plan out the day’s tasks and know what you plan to make for breakfast or pack for lunch.

Each of these tasks added up together without planning can stall your morning routine and cause you to take the inevitable mad dash out the door from procrastination.

  1. Not Hitting the Snooze Button

For some of us this might be the most difficult task of the morning. You might even be one of those people that snooze your alarm four or five times before even thinking about rolling out of bed.

No procrastinating! Snoozing is a perfect example of starting the day off with an act of procrastination.

Spoiler alert: five to 10 minutes of extra sleep actually won’t help you feel more rested.

A challenge for you: set just one single alarm and put your phone or alarm clock all the way across the room so that you physically have to get up to turn it off. Just by following this one tip, it will help make your day feel more productive and improve your morning routine.

This might sound like a parent telling you to make your bed, but this tiny task can make a huge difference.

Sometimes the smallest actions can have a powerful impact on your daily success. By making your bed every morning, you start off by accomplishing the first of many tasks of the day.

A sense of pride and encouragement to do other tasks can come from the very task you ignored from your mom or dad when you were just a kid.
